Document including a detailed examination of the process and legal requirements for preparing the future legal entity of METROFOOD-RI as ERIC.  The legal framework at EU level, with the Regulations in place (EC Reg. 723/2009, cons. 2013) and all the official EC documentation have been considered, along with the national laws and any other official document dealing with Research Infrastructure, the ERIC and its adoption.

All the steps for the application process to set up an ERIC have been carefully examined. Furthermore, the national requirements for the ERIC set-up have been considered with a detailed analysis for the 18 participating Countries, and specific fiches detailing the legal process at national level to participate to the ERIC have been prepared for each Node/(perspective) member Country. Finally, the main challenges related to the ERIC as legal entity and its implementation have been examined.
